MOD-7 sound demo
Once worth ATS 285.000.- (equals to € 20.700.-), Yamaha’s GS-1
In a way it is Sina172’s fault, as he was asking “How can you get smoooother EP’s? Can someone fill me in here? I want those EP’s to sound like Pads that are really lush and warm. I KNOW this is possible but I need a run down.”
Thus I decided to make a short Audio-Demo to show how easy it is to get these kind of sounds. But you know how life sometimes is…. at the end you get somehting completely different.
I was looking for one of the many typical DX Piano sounds which are coming together with the two additional Program banks. So I stepped thru them and “oops” ?? What was that, this characteristic “stertorousness” reminded me on something lying back a long, long time. Some editing here, for example I put the ratio of all Oscs to 1, some editing there and suddenly I had this sound:
“Taenzerin”
Ok.. no doubt, it is lacking the wooden character of the original, Attack and Decay need some further editing to get a stronger E-Piano Attack phase and Volumes together with Velocity should be modified as well… not to mention the usage of the internal EQ. But you won’t believe how long it took to get this sound. The whole recording process with changing the Sample Rate to 44.1kHz, converting to an .mp3 copying it on the USB stick bringing it upstairs to the Mac I am writing, loading the stick, uploading the audio file took much longer then to get to this sound.
But I have to apologize, as MOD-7 is capable of much more then “just” E-Pianos.
